Changes to Alert WesternU: Download the new app
Your safety on campus is a top priority for Western, which includes making sure you have important safety information when you need it most.
To better support timely communications during emergency situations on campus — such as building evacuations, severe weather emergencies, imminent danger or critical university status updates — we are making improvements with changes to Alert WesternU.
What’s new – action required
On April 10, we are transitioning to a new service provider for emergency notifications. As part of this change, we are introducing a new mobile app.
The Alertable app is a mass notification tool that provides timely, accurate information directly to your smartphone or tablet, ensuring clear and effective communication when it matters most.
To prepare, please do the following starting today:
Download the Alertable app to receive emergency communications to your mobile device. Please note: the OnSolve app will no longer function as of April 10.
Customize your information through the Alert WesternU portal to include personal email addresses and SMS/text numbers.
You will continue to automatically receive emergency notifications through your Western email address, including those at Ivey Business School and the affiliates, whether or not you have the app installed.
In addition, those who use Teams will automatically receive emergency notifications through the Teams Alertable app.
If you do not install the phone app or add a text number through the portal, notifications will only be delivered by email and the Teams app.
Please note: During the March 23 - April 9 transition, emergency notifications may be sent to both the OnSolve and Alertable apps.
